Big Data Lab is an organisation dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of Big Data.
Our Vision
With the development of information technology, more and more information, often described as Big Data, is being made available in electronic form.
Both industry and academia are pioneering data science techniques, but their use is limited to a few organisations and has not yet reached widespread adoption.
Our mission is to contribute to the creation of a sustainable society by promoting logical decision-making through the spread of data science.
Chief Executive Officer
Suguru Tanaka
Graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology with a degree in Social Engineering. After graduation, he joined a Singapore-based Fintech start-up as a data scientist. In 2021, he co-founded Big Data Lab and nominated as Chief Executive Officer, helping companied from various industries with statistics and data science.
He is a statistician accredited by the Royal Statistical Society, and holds MSc Data Science (Distinction) from the London School of Economics
Chief Operating Officer
Shoki Yamada
At a strategic consulting firm, he has been involved in strategic planning, M&A, and the planning and execution of new businesses such as Mobile-as-a-service (MaaS) and automated driving in transportation businesses. In 2021, he co-founded Big Data Lab and became its board member.
He has as master’s degree in Life Science with Minor in Physics at Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, The University of Tokyo
Data Engineer / Cloud Architect
Shogo Suzuki
He is a software engineer who builds data infrastructures using the cloud and provides advice on building systems that handle big data, as well as development. He has experience in a wide range of business domains such as advertising/retail/education/financial and payment.
He has a master’s degree from Graduate School of Decision Science and Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology.
Chief Analytics Officer
Kohei Otani
He is an experienced data scientist, conducting analysis using mobility data and purchase data, as well as joint research with industry and academia. After that, he worked for Deloitte, where he helped large insurance companies develop data strategies and analytical environments.
After retiring, he started his own business as a sole proprietor, providing data analysis, optimization, machine learning.
Chief Revenue Officer
Takafumi Haga
He worked in a major HR company, where he was involved in management and sales strategy planning and execution. After resigning from the company, he started his own business and has been supporting companies in a hands-on way by running sales agency and planning business. He also runs a sales freelance community.
Technical Advisor
Yuko Kuroki, PhD
She is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and the Graduate School of Information Science and Engineering of the University of Tokyo. She is also a visiting researcher at the RIKEN Center for Integrated Research on Innovative Intelligence.
She is a Microsoft research Asia D-CORE 2020 Awardee. Her papers have been accepted to top conferences in artificial intelligence and machine learning (ICML, IJCAI, AAAI). Her interest is in algorithmic research on mathematical problems related to statistical machine learning and combinatorial optimization.

Daniel Maumary
He has worked in application development and database management in the fields of investment banking, insurance and fintech. He has more than 30 years of experience in large databases, using various operating systems (Linux, WIndows, Solaris), programming languages (SQL, C#, C#+, C, Python, Java) and databases (PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Oracle). He has more than 30 years of experience with large databases.
